John Rosselli Lighting

Speaking of John Rosselli- don't you feel like the proverbial child in a candy store when you venture into one of his showrooms? The fabrics, wallpapers, and furniture are terrific, and I'm usually overcome by the urge to say "I'll take one of everything!" But in my opinion, Rosselli particularly excels with his lighting line. The lamps, chandeliers, and sconces are so unique and really quite heavenly. For those of you who don't live near a Rosselli showroom, you can always visit the website for a sampling of their wares. In the meantime, I couldn't resist sharing with you a few fanciful fixtures.

  3. How about TWO of everything, please?
Oh, those nubians! Worthy of a lapel clip worn by
    Mrs Vreeland wouldn't you say?

  6. I would like the sconces more if they were candle-powered. Is it possible to order them unelectrified, I wonder?

  7. Aesthete- Everything and everybody looks better by candlelight. I don't see why you couldn't get them without wiring. Don't you think that perhaps these are made upon ordering?

  8. Have noticed a vogue for not using candle-shades - personally think they look naked without them. Those blackamoors are fab.

  10. HOBAC- I would have to use shades too. Personally, I don't like to see the bulb. That's why Aesthete's idea might also work.

  12. Lurve all!

I think you need to touch on the topic of "blackamoors." The first sconce sorta nods to that genre of decor. :)

  14. Ah, blackamoors ... Diana Vreeland ... Baba de Faucigny-Lucinge ... Elsie de Wolfe ... Carlos de Beistegui ... Peggy Hopkins Joyce ... and Cartier for days ... check out Vreeland's comments re blackamoors in the 1920s and 1930s, in her memoir, "DV." Would make a lively post ... a bit eyebrow-arching, yes ... oh, and don't forget Syrie Maugham ...
