New York Social Diary House- Jeffrey Bilhuber

A few months ago I posted about the Manhattan apartment of designer Jeffrey Bilhuber. If you would like to see additional views and photos of this apartment, you should visit New York Social Diary today as there is an interesting interview with Bilhuber (part of their 'House' series). I think the apartment is an unusual but striking mix of glam and country. (To read my post on Bilhuber, click here.)

  1. Great post on Bilhuber. I was fortunate to hear him speak at the Seattle Design Center. He has great style and a knack for mixing everything up and having it look fantastic. I love the geometric stenciling on the hardwood floor.

I gotta say: That gingham soooo doesn't work for me.

  6. PT- Well, gingham is probably not for everybody :) I do think it's interesting to see how different people react to diff't patterns, or colors too.

  7. I love the gingham too! But I can definitely see how some people would recoil from them! Love these rooms!

  8. Yes, like GMG said, your (Peak of Chic's) description Glam and Country is perfect! I really like the headboard and wallcovering -- although not sure about "gold scribbles." I understand his view and why he did it, but I'm just not sure.

NYSD is always fun b/c they show so many angles and views that Elle Decor can't due to space constraints.

  9. Courtney- I agree; if I had that wallcovering, I would die if paint got on it!

  10. I'm so excited, that's my favorite interview series of all - NYSD. And I love his apartment, checks are my favorite print so, when he first published it, I was just smiling. There's one thing I just don't get and maybe it doesn't translate well - the gold in the bedroom. Do you like that?? Maybe it's just a personal thing with him, but....
    Beautiful post, AS ALWAYS!!!

  12. I have to say, I am a fan of Bilhuber's style, but I really don't like what he's done with his own apartment....

I had the amazing opportunity to complete my design internship with Bilhuber & Assoc. Jeffrey purchased his apartment during that time and I have to say, the photos do not begin to portray the true ambiance of the apartment. It is truly one of many of Bilhuber's most beautiful spaces- not to mention he and his firm where great to work for.

  18. SLevenson- First, how lucky you were to intern for Bilhuber! I'm sure you learned a great deal. And it's interesting that you mentioned that the apt. is more beautiful in person. When I saw these photos, I knew it was a beautiful space, but I really wanted to see it in person. I could tell that it was a high impact home, but I suppose photographs can only capture so much!
