Just like a good man, a decent finial is hard to find. (Only teasing.) Seriously, though, don't you agree that there are a lot of ugly finials out there? Fortunately, designer Hillary Thomas has remedied the situation with her new line of chic finials- "The Finial Touch"- that are Chinese and African inspired. Hillary will be debuting the line as part of her OKL Tastemaker Tag Sale tomorrow (Suzanne Tucker is also having a sale tomorrow as well.) I believe that it's time for me to update some of my lamps. Here are a few finials that I'm considering:

I guess I am always on the look out for Chinese finials, I have the gold, and a tiny elephant, the good luck and jade. These are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey add so much to the right shade.

What a great idea!! Really one of those overlooked details - and you're right, how many lamps have those ugly mundane brass finials that aren't even threaded right. Will be checking OKL tomorrow for sure!
ReplyDeleteFinials and lampshades--the final touches and such a time-consuming final touch. I love putting jewelry to lamps, chandeliers or whatever--and these all would make great earings.
ReplyDeleteSeveral years ago I had a lamp in inventory---a traditional brass step converted fluid lamp, with a beautiful blue glass bowl with a cut vine design. It was fitted with a good custom shade, and the lamp shop, in a stroke of brilliance, found a finial with a clear blue glass orb at the top---it may sound obvious, even recherech, but actually it wasn't, and it was brilliant, esp. when the lamp was lit. I've been a true believer ever since
ReplyDeleteugh - a good man IS hard to find -don't get me started. However, I think you just found some AMAZING finials!!
ReplyDeleteWow, I have to say that I am enamoured by a great finial. Although, I don't always purchase them when I run across one I like. I guess it seems like an expense that can be skirted, yet I know tiny, exquisite touches reveal themselves in a marvelous room over time.
ReplyDeleteIts on my list. Thanks for reminding me.
What a clever idea - there are indeed many ugly or at least pedestrian finials out there. These would add a splash of panache to many a harp. And looking forward to her sale on OKL tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. Love the coral. Finials are such a nice detail in a room.
ReplyDeleteI agree -- the world is full of less than wonderful finials. Reggie is a great fan of vintage glass marble ones. He originally found a few at a lamp store in a box of old finials, and has augmented his stash via eBay. Nice post. RD
ReplyDeleteJewelry for the lamp...love them!!
ReplyDeleteI love pretty finials. I recently bought a thrift store lamp that had a fab turquoise finial just like the coral one you posted. I bought it for the finial rather than the lamp!
ReplyDeleteFinials?! This is fantastic! I've never read a post dedicated solely to lamp finials before. Maybe I just don't get out much, but I seriously loved this! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove a great finial - the cherry on the sundae!
ReplyDeleteThe emerald finial is a favorite. I hadn't heard of Hilary's finial designs until now.
