Isabelle de Borchgrave for Target

Was anyone else as taken with these chair covers in today's Home & Garden section of the New York Times? According to the article, Isabelle de Borchgrave has created a new paper line for Target called "Isabelle Party" that is set to debut this month. de Borchgrave is a Belgian artist whose work is quite varied. She is best known for creating stunning paper dresses and costumes that represent the history of fashion. The collection, entitled Papiers a la Mode, was a collaboration with Rita Brown, a Canadian costume designer. de Borchgrave has also designed china for Gien and napkins and papergoods for Caspari.

The chairs covers can supposedly be sponged off and reused, and I'm assuming the same can be done to the tablecloths. I love the floral prints that de Borchgrave has designed. To me, they look a little like a Porthault print!

  4. Are the chair covers paper? I couldn't figure that out from the Times, but at $3.99, I am assuming that they are.

  5. Fairfax- I'm a little unsure myself. I'm assuming they're paper, and they must be coated so that they can sponged off. I may need to take a trip to Target to see them in person.

  6. There are just so many creative people out there - it never ceases to amaze me! I couldn't even begin to imagine how much work would go into making the likes of that dress - amazing!!

  7. I was at the local Target last night but couldn't find these. They may not be stocked yet. I did get a cute cement bunny for my brother's new house.

  8. Fairfax- Thanks for the update. I'm out of town right now, but will hit my Target when I get home next week! I'll let you know if I find them then.

  9. Peak... There's something in the Home section of the Wash Post that says this is made of a "durable, non-woven polypropylene that feels like a sturdy cotton" and ships to stores later this month.

  10. Thanks for this info Fairfax. Can you believe I went to the Target over the weekend with the sole purpose of looking for the line, but then I got distracted and forgot to look for it? There are a few items of the line on the website, but not the chair covers.

  11. Peak... Just read something on the Homefront Discussion on the WashPost and someone said that these were great...sturdy and look great. Now I am motivated to find them!

  12. Fairfax- I knew there was something I forgetting to mention. I found some of the chair covers earlier this week at my Target, but they were not in the fun pattern above. The pattern was a floral but was not a vibrant one. I couldn't tell anything more about them b/c they were in plastic wrap. I'm going to check back in a few days and see if I can find them in the fun print.
