Jacques Grange Interiors

I've spent the past few nights in bed with Jacques Grange.

Can you blame me? He's awfully handsome...and so are his interiors.

Like this 1920s Park Avenue apartment, above.

Or this Paris apartment that I fell in love with when I first saw it published a few years ago.

I wish I could show you more, like this home, above, in Paris...

...but unfortunately, I can't. But take my word for it, Jacques Grange: Interiors by Pierre Passebon (Paris: Flammarion, 2009) is truly fantastic. If you weren't already a Grange fan, I think you'll become a convert.

  1. I can't wait to get my hands on this book! The images you shared are superb and demonstrate his versatility and unmistakable talent as a decorator. Scrumptious!

  4. Jacques is definitely the man of the moment!

Over at Habitually Chic the use of rope furniture is on topic but but but I'm totally intrigued by the tiger.

Not the first thing one notices on the dust cover but utterly surreal. I've always been fascinated by big cats as pets - though my dog is terrified of cats - as my father told marvelous stories of their cheetah in Kenya and how a friend of theirs on the Kings Road in London 'rescued' a lion cub from Harrods and kept it in their shop.

That aside Jacques Grange is another master in the Interiors Lexicon.

  5. Off the list- I think I just read an article about the two men who rescued that cub and then later returned it to Africa? Or was this someone else? I can't imagine there were a lot of lion cubs roaming London.

  7. Yes, that's the same two men who bought the lion cub at Harrod's. Here is a film clip about finding the lion, Christian, after he had been returned to the wild. It is a very sweet film and well worth watching:

  14. I envy that you have this in hand—or at least in bed—I have it waiting on my list to be sent. What an amazing career he has had. Look forward to reading this.

Off topic: You have unleashed palette power! LIttle Augury suggested the book Bohemian Style by Elizabeth Wilhide to me. If you don't know this book, you might enjoy. There is a small chest decorated with a palette of luscious colors. Simple strokes of colors all over it! Great for a child's room or the child in all of us.

  17. I couldn't agree with you more. He is so dashing and artistic! I've always admired him for his impeccable taste. I love his apartment in Paris Interiros by Lisa Lovatt-Smith. He paid tribute to the writer, Colette in that apartment. There is another book, Provence Interiors which feature one of his country houses. Also, there is a picture of him. He would be a man of my dream...good looks, good taste, you can't really ask for more!
