Passementerie Lighting!

Passementerie sconces?? Why those are two of my favorite words in the design dictionary! As soon as I saw mention of them on 1st dibs yesterday, I had to immediately visit the site of the mastermind behind this quirky lighting line- Hélène Aumont. The California based Aumont not only designs lighting but furniture and accessories as well. And if that isn't enough, she is also an interior designer (I am assuming that she decorated the glorious Paris apartment of Patrick Aumont, who was featured on 1st dibs.)

But it's the passementerie covered chandeliers and sconces that have caught my fancy. They're wildly chic and whimsical and reminiscent of 1930s French design. What do you think?

  1. I think Aumont designed his own apartment; he is an interior decorator, according to the 1stdibs article.

  2. Wait a minute ... you might be correct ... Hélène Aumont's website states that she is married to Patrick Aumont ... so perhaps she did decorate what is cited as his Paris apartment ... weirdly, though, the 1stdibs article about Patrick Aumont makes no mention of his wife but shows, as his work, the apartment in Paris ... which is also on her site as her work ...

  3. Aesthete- Well, I'm confused. The 1st dibs article does not mention that the apartment was designed by Helene Aumont; however, if you visit her website, she has photos of that apartment in her portfolio section. Perhaps it was a collaboration?

  4. Aesthete- Re: your second comment- I reread that 1st dibs article just to make sure there was no mention of Helene... and there wasn't.

  6. Lifes Humor- Unfortunately, I don't think so. I looked on the "Showroom" page of her website, and it looks like there are showrooms in CA, IL, and NY. Maybe you could contact one of them??
