Drinks Trays at Greystone

Today is my last day of Maison de Luxe posting. Upon going through the house, I realized that a lot of designers added drinks trays or bar carts to their rooms. Seeing that it's the holidays and most of will be doing a fair amount of entertaining, I thought that these photos might be a little food for thought. Make that drink for thought.

Image at top: Designer David Phoenix styled this drinks tray for his Dining Room. It's traditional and timeless.

Kathryn Ireland used a drinks trolley in her Social Secretary's Room. I'm guessing that the fictitious social secretary doesn't get much work done.

Philip Gorrivan used the niche for his Breakfast Room drinks set up.

Patrick Dragonette used all kinds of terrific vintage glassware and decanters for his cocktail assemblage.

Barclay Butera displayed his drinks tray upon an upholstered ottoman.

Nathan Turner had the advantage of having a bar in his Rec Room. Looks like a turban alighted upon a bottle of some kind of spirit.

  2. The best drinks table I have ever seen was in the private apartment at Chatsworth during the occupancy of the now-dowager Duchess. The location of the table remains the same today, but a removal of a wall puts it in the loft of the chapel!

  3. Cocktails are synonymous with the holidays - whether just to enhance the holiday spirit or to get you through the family-time. Almost every room of the Christmas House at the Mansion last year had a drink tray set up and it seems that Greystone is no different this year.

  5. I love drink trays & bar carts, and would love to have one in my home, except I drink only beer, wine & champagne. It usually ends up dusty, and I hate to dust. What's my solution?

  6. Casey, dust is an issue on my bar cart too. I end up dusting mine pretty often with a Swiffer duster, so it's not too difficult. Maybe you could keep a few bottles of wine or champagne out plus an ice bucket and any other bar tools you have. You could use a small bar tray to corral everything; you won't need a big one since you won't have liquor. Don't leave the glasses out on the tray unless guests are coming over. They'll just get dusty and dirty.
