Memorial Day Entertaining
I'm sure that many of you are heading out of town today in order to spend your Memorial Day weekend at the beach, the lake, or in the country. No matter where you plan to spend the holiday weekend, chances are you'll do a little entertaining. After all, isn't that what three-day weekends are for?
With that in mind, here are a few photos that might get you in the mood for entertaining. Who knows? You might even be inspired to carve your own whale watermelon basket (see below.) Then again, maybe not.

Thats just what Im going to do for the holiday........carve a whale watermelon basket! The art of fruit and vegetable carving is underappreciated!
ReplyDeleteMichael, I might attempt to carve one this summer. It might be a good way to spend a rainy day. :)
DeleteYou had me up until watermelon basket ;-) Reminds me of college where you would pour a bottle of vodka into a watermelon.... never a good idea!
ReplyDeleteStefan, That was a lethal concoction, as I recall. Been there, done that!
DeleteVery inspiring for a long weekend at the lake! (and I really need it)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the beauty you bring Jennifer! Have a great weekend!

Thank you Karena! Happy Memorial Day weekend to you, too.
DeleteAre those grapes or lumps of ambergris?
ReplyDeleteOne more thing- the more I look at the whale, the more unappetizing his "innards" look.
DeleteBrings one back to the type of entertaining our parents did, minutely planned out but it had to look artless (which of course, it never really did - such innocent times...)
ReplyDeleteVery true. I must admit that I find food presentation of this era to be fascinating. Take the hyper-organized cold-cut and crudite platter in the third photo, for example. Just think how long that took to plate.
