Meg Braff used Cowtan & Tout's "Floral Toile" in the bedroom above (House Beautiful 5/06). It was also used by Markham Roberts in this bedroom:
Roberts worked for many years for Mark Hampton:
Who worked for Sister Parish and Albert Hadley
Who used "La Portugaise" fabric in Brooke Astor's Library
Which was also used for curtains by Keith Irvine
Whose favorite fabric is B&F's "Le Lac"
Which was also used by Meg Braff

OMG, what research...you are good Jennifer!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ronda! When you stare at these images as much as I do it all starts to come together :)
ReplyDeleteJennifer, this is better than the Kevin Bacon game :)
ReplyDeleteCourtney- Thank you! It's more fun for me b/c I'll take design over celebrities anyday!
ReplyDeleteJennifer - any excuse to use Le Lac is a good one in my book. I also have a soft spot for the C&T sunflower toile. I couldn't find a spot for it, but eventually used it as curtains for my in-laws. Wonderful.
ReplyDeletePatricia- I suppose that's one of the nice things about being a designer- if you can't use a favorite fabric in your own home, you can use it in a client's :)
ReplyDeletethis is why is love your site!
ReplyDeleteAnon- Thank you! You're making me blush :)
ReplyDeleteDitto Anon. POC is the design blogging queen.
ReplyDelete(PS: But how does this all connect with Diana Vreeland?)

ReplyDeleteJust wanted to leave a note to let you know that I keep up with your blog. I was pleasantly surprised to see you post about Meg Williams Braff. She's my first cousin (from Mississippi) and we're always proud of her work.
ReplyDeleteHillary Jordan

Anaon 2:02 Baldwin used La Portugaise in Diana Vreeland's "Garden in Hell" living room
ReplyDeleteAww just kidding folks. I juest wanted the opportunity to reference that room!
Fun post Peak. I notice this happens a lot with accessories like in a recent issue of MetHome in which almost every well story had a copy of Helmut Newton's "Sumo" on the reading stand.
Thanks!
Hillary- Thanks for your comment. I'm a big fan of Braff's work, so it's always fun to include her images in my posts!
ReplyDeleteVery funny Misterparticular ;)
ReplyDeleteYou're right about the accessories though, and esp. certain books.
That was completely fun! You really do you know your stuff.
ReplyDeleteAw, my comment didn't go through! I LOVE THIS!!!! I want to play!!! did you notice ( I know you did that Markham used this same fabric in this month's HB?) - great, great, great, fun, wonderful post!
