It's Miles to Brooklyn
I just returned from attending the Lyford Cay Design Weekend, where I participated in a panel discussion with Newell Turner, Mary McDonald, David Kleinberg, and Miles Redd. It was great fun, and I'll share some of my adventures with you later this week. While I'm catching up on work, it's probably a good time to show a few photos of a lively and chic townhouse in Brooklyn, which was recently decorated by Miles. The house is a heady concoction of upholstered screens, red lampshades, rich-looking fabrics, and, most especially, exotic wallpaper. Think peacock feathers, grasscloth, tea paper, and Chinese bird scenes. There's a lot of good stuff to behold, but here is just a sampling. The photos appear in the February issue of House Beautiful, which hits newsstands tomorrow.
*If you wish to read an online interview with Miles regarding this project as well as view a slide show with additional photos (both on the House Beautiful website,) please click on the links.

Miles has outdone himself! I actually posted the first image a few days ago it reminded me so much of Springtime!

ReplyDeleteI'm thrilled that your hard work has landed you such fabulous gigs, Jennifer. So exciting!
ReplyDeleteI've been drooling over that powder room. Taking my copy of HB--and Miles!--to read in bed tonight...
Love the rich colors and whimsical design... definitely a place I would love to entertain in!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing...

So happy to see wallpaper again!
ReplyDeleteThat wallpaper would make a peacock proud. Of course, I love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, a friend gave me your book for Christmas, then I ran across an article about you in Atlanta magazine. Could you tell me what color of blue is in the photograph of you on the leopard print chairs in that article? I'm looking for a "muddy pale blue" paint. Our 1887 Queen Anne only takes warm colors (believe me, we've painted the living room 6 colors already!) Most blues are too clear/cool. Thanks so much. Look forward to more of your blog posts!
ReplyDeleteHi Dixie! My apartment's walls are painted in Farrow & Ball's "Powder Blue", high gloss finish. I would definitely describe it as a muddy powder blue. Blue is such a tough color to get right, but what I like about the F&B shade is that it's warm, too.
Delete"Powder Blue" is technically discontinued, but I'm pretty sure that you can special order it. Good luck!
