...make sure to stop by the Dallas Market Center to attend Joe Ruggiero's lecture on global design and the inspiration that he's gleaned from his far flung travels. The talk is part of their "Lunch and Learn" series. If I were in Dallas, I'd go because I've been a fan of Joe since his days of hosting Homes Across America on HGTV. That was truly the best show on that channel; too bad it's no longer on.

I miss that show too. I recorded Jane Scott Hodges' house and saved it forever!
ReplyDeleteohhh, too bad, I have to stay in Atlanta this weekend, but seems like a cool lecture series!
ReplyDeleteLove Homes Across America too. He seems like such a nice person. Wish I lived in a big market to take advantage of things like this. Every time I get something from ADAC I think, "If only I lived there". Hope you are well.

Well, this "almost" makes me wish I still lived in Dallas!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree, Homes Across America was a fabulous show, such a classic. Wish HGTV would go back to that formatting instead of the yuck they currently call design.
Homes Across America was my fave - still is. Poor HGTV, they've gone wrong! I called and asked how to object to the show NOT being on....was given an address and wrote .......for several weeks, then trailed off.........still miss the show. Joe Ruggiero and his warm charm - he was like my Dad.
ReplyDeleteI used to love to watch that show, so many wonderful houses!

Maybe if we lobbied hard enough, we could get HGTV to bring it back...but only if Joe wants to :)
ReplyDeleteYes, we must find a way to bring it back. I have a client who has the most amazing stipped hardwood floors all because of an episode of a designer's house in New Orleans. Jon something...I would kill to see that episode again! And, it was hands down the best show on HGTV.
ReplyDeleteI live in Dallas, and was very excited to hear his lecture. Unfortunately, arriving early didn't help us, as the Dallas Market Center was having a show and all 11,000 parking places were taken! Drove around and around and finally gave up!
ReplyDeleteBut thanks for the heads up.
Cheryl- What a shame as I'm sure Joe's lecture was really interesting. There's nothing like parking issues to mess up a fun day!
