Yesterday, in response to the shell post, a reader mentioned that I might like the shell sconces, above, that are available at Rose Uniacke in London. Rose Uniacke? Why had I never heard of her nor her chic shop before? Better late than never, I suppose.
And regarding those shells- the reader was right. I'd like a pair of the sconces, as well as many other items on the website.
Like these chairs. Slipper shape, green velvet, bouillon fringe. Divine!
And this 17th c. Louis XIV Ebony and Brass Inlaid Commode.
This Bagues chandelier would look perfect over my dining table.
I don't have a bar, but I'd have one built in a jiffy in order to accommodate these stools.
Oddly enough, my favorite thing on the entire site is not a chair nor a table, but rather a bespoke range hood (or should I say cooker hood).
Truly, is this not one of the best looking hoods you've seen? Even if it meant that the rest of my kitchen had to go naked, I'd buy this hood in a heart beat! (It certainly beats the 1968 GE hood that graces my kitchen right now.)
Wow - I guess Rose Uniacke really was appealing! She has just opened on the Pimlico Road - which was in dire needs of a breath of fresh air. A voracious buyer with a great eye.....certainly one to keep an eye on.
ReplyDeleteOffthelist- Thank you, thank you for alerting me to her shop. Those slipper chairs and hood are to die for!
ReplyDeleteBut I'd put those green velvet chairs in front of something very very modern. Or African...
ReplyDeleteMust figure out how to fit that hood into my life someday. And anything green gets my vote.
ReplyDeleteThat hood is good...xv
ReplyDeleteLove it all-exactly my taste.
ReplyDeleteI'm really enjoying this thread. The hood is terrific, but I'm voting for the chandelier.
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I can't stop staring at those slipper chairs - love how she mitred the velvet on the seats - never thought of doing that before..... and at first I thought the hood was one of those big chandeliers that look like a lampshade and started inwardly groaning, but a pagoda hood!!!! yes yes yes!!! EEE
ReplyDeleteMy Gawd! Thanks for opening my eyes to her work!
ReplyDeleteI don't even cook and I'd like that range hood!
ReplyDeleteThe hood is great, but my heart is set on that little bagues chandelier. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove the hood as well, but if it is ready to buy "off the rack", if you will, then by definition it can not be "bespoke" - still beautiful though!
ReplyDeleteThe Anne Coyle bedroom is yummy! Can't wait to visit her shop the next time I am in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteYes, the stools are to die for, but I would upholster them in a sharde close to those slipper chairs...
ReplyDeleteThat inlaid commode is absolutely wonderful - incredible detail.
ReplyDeleteHer website is fab isn't it? Thanks for sharing...uh, and I'll take a pair of those shell sconces when you put your order in!
ReplyDeleteBlessings...
The hood is fantastic - and to be fair entirely bespoke - I've seen one in the flesh (as it were) and am thinking of using it as a chimney flue with a long upward extension. Those slipper chairs are apparently called the 'Marlborough' model by Howard & Sons who are creating quite a stir in the UK salerooms - at Christies in July a 30's sofa by them sold for just a splinter over £16,000!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying to persuade the boss to allow us a run of the scallop shells along an upstairs corridor - the arm is being slowly twisted......
Offthelist- Love the idea of using the hood as a chimney flue- how very glamorous! I'm not familiar with Howard & Sons but obviously need to do a bit of research!
ReplyDeleteI had to add the image of the bespoke hood to my blog as well (gave you credit for finding it - so awesome) http://decorativedeluxe.blogspot.com/2009/08/i-was-checking-out-peak-of-chics-blog.html
ReplyDeleteBeautiful hood- but I am voting for the sconces. WOW is all I have to say!
ReplyDeleteI love the hood as well, and the stool is really great!

Great post and I also went to Uniacke's site. Next time in London I'll spend a full day there.
ReplyDeleteHer mother has a very lovely antiques shop too, just a few doors down from Rose, www.hilarybatstone.com - it's also very lovely!
