Bamboo prints are one of my all-time favorites. Imagine my excitement when I was reading the August issue of House Beautiful and found this Atlanta home decorated by John Oetgen. The kitchen (shown above) has walls and ceiling papered in Cowtan & Tout's "Bamboo" wallpaper. You'll probably need to click on the picture to clearly see the print on the ceiling. (I'm also crazy for the custom zinc stove hood!) And then, on the screened pavilion at the back of the house, there is a great bamboo print by Kolo Collection on the wicker sofa. I know we've been having a "bamboo moment" for a while now, but I think that these prints are true classics!

Leslie- Thanks for the info on your new website. I'll make sure to update my reader!
ReplyDeleteAfter my own heart too POC, just love this house and can't wait to see this issue. I am a big fan of Cowtan & Tout, and this bamboo wallcovering :)
ReplyDeleteLove the chinoiserie effect in the kitchen cabinet and the zinc fireplace hood, how unusual. Bamboo is such a classic and so Chic.
ReplyDeleteGlad you like that print too GMG!
ReplyDeletePatricia- I thought that hood was pretty unique.
ReplyDeleteYes, I love that print on the sofa too. I think Lee, over at Pieces, has pillows in the same fabric -- very similar at least.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous kitchen! The hood and cabinets are especialy creative and charming.
ReplyDeleteThat hood is fabulous. I'll never tire of bamboo prints. Never!
ReplyDeleteThat kitchen IS amazing! The C & T wallpaper sorta matches my "Palm Beach Chair"! Thanks a ton for adding a link to my new blog!
ReplyDeleteAnne- I had not thought of that, but you're right! You've got a good eye! Many thanks.
ReplyDeleteJust got my HB in the mail, it's now at the top of the pile, thanks to your post!
ReplyDeleteThat is exactly what I was looking for for my hall way! But I only need i roll and didn't want to pay C&T's price, so I was looking on ebay, found some great ones but lost the bidding.
ReplyDeleteThis kitchen is highly stylized and all around awesome. I just love these colors, yellow, white, green used together.
ReplyDeleteWhat's different here is the cooktop area. It takes such restraint, but makes such an impact, to do NOTHING behind the cooktop, letting the entire design speak for itself. It transforms the feeling toward less of a "kitchen" and more "living" feeling, to me, anyway! Good stuff!
Yes gorgeous wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteFantastic house!! And I looove Cowtan & Tout's wallpaper! Fab!
ReplyDeleteI think it's unanimous that we love the wallpaper!
ReplyDeleteSo many great things in this issue ( don't miss the KC home by David Jimenez.) Love that kitchen and the unanimously beloved paper. Also, the placement of the Greek key trim on the pillows pg.95. But my question is - I have always loved garden stools - and would like to have two in my LR now - while they are a classic, will they seem so last Tuesday?
ReplyDeleteKC- I think if you love them, then go ahead and use them. It's like Chinoiserie- I've had all types of Chinoiserie things in my home for years; now it's popular, but I could never get rid of my Chinoiserie!
ReplyDeleteyou're the best
ReplyDeleteLove the kitchen and I too love bamboo inspired prints and furniture.
ReplyDeleteAfter reading all the comments I will have to go get an issue of HB now.
ReplyDeleteThe pattern on the ceiling really finishes the space perfectly.
Glad you like them Anna!
ReplyDeleteKitchann- Hope you enjoy this issue!
ReplyDeletei've always used garden stools as decorative elements. they never go out of style. go for it kc.
ReplyDeletehow incredible is that zinc hood? the asian feel of the hood with the bamboo wallpaper. that's some great design.
